When I was in evangelical Christianity, the world had a filter on it. Everything was interpreted through a certain narrative. No matter how happy someone seemed, if they didn't know Jesus, they were secretly miserable...

Dark forces worked behind the government and the powers of the world. You could never trust your eyes. There was an us vs them mentality, and a chosen mentality.

The troubles and the challenges we faced were mainly because we were believers, being persecuted by the world.

I see this stuff going on with Trump, and I see similar things. It doesn't matter that he's in trouble. They don't see it as trouble.

He's a martyr. That side has done a very good job spinning the narrative that everything that's going wrong is because of dark powers working against a good man that is a champion for their values.

All the detractors, the appeals to logic... It's not going to get through. It's become a type of religion.

Thing is, hating Trump has kind of become a past time all its own. There's a lot on the line for folks like me in the next election. Transrights are on the chopping block everywhere. There's part of the country that aren't safe for me anymore.

It's a scary time

I don't see how letting Trump live rent free in my head is going to help much of anything though or move the needle. I don't have a lot of answers, which is scary, but I know that hate is baggage, and it keeps us from seeing solutions

I'm not saying let him off the hook. I'm saying let justice be done, it's falling like rain for him right now.

I think in a way that could even be the worst thing for him. He seems to thrive on attention, good or bad. It's a narcissist thing.

It's a frightening time to be alive to be certain, but we can be here for each other, we can support each other and look towards the brighter dawn together.

@NiveusLepus ❤️ beautiful message my friend and so true. We may not know the outcome however we can be together in whatever comes.

@TheNewsOwl You are most kind. I'm glad that I have good people in my life like you.

@NiveusLepus
Very well said, my friend! ❤️

You're making a difference just by sharing. Understanding one's opponent is crucial to defeating one's opponent, and most people do not understand the iron grip and cultural bubble of extremist religions.

Some people need to hear that they're not alone in their frustration, or their lack of answers.

I love your reminder that hate and anger defeat our ability to find solutions, and that our strength is each other! 😊 🐿️

@p3R1n01D You are very kind, and I am grateful for all the light you share with me.

We're always building the future with every choice we make. Even if we can't see far down the path, what we plant now we will reap later.

Love and hope is like fertilizer. Hatred is poison.

@NiveusLepus Well said, Becca.

Let me add that there are people - well meaning people - who have adopted the belief that a convicted, jailed, and disqualified Trump ends the fight. Nothing could be further from the truth. The ideology has taken hold. The foundations have been laid. Explicit and tacit discrimination against anyone not fitting their narrow worldview is seen as acceptable. Nay, encouraged.

A martyred Trump is fuel to feed the fire of hate.

@Graci There is a long road in front of us, to be certain. I have said it before that Trump's election in 2016 was an expression of disillusionment and rage.

There's a lot of that in America and the world today, and its manifesting to truly toxic ends that threaten us all.

@NiveusLepus I want to see the political death grip that Republicanism has on Christianity to be shattered. I want the expression of Christianity in the United States to be the best version of itself and not this whiny, backward, corrupt version.

You may no longer believe in God but I do. Our God is a jealous God who disciplines His own. Trump is a test and he is headed for a great fall. My prayer is that when it happens much corruption and evil in the church will be expunged and die with him.

@danielbsmith I would also like to see Christianity and religion out of the political spectrum entirely. The first amendment and freedom of speech has allowed for a diverse and plurality of views, which I feel, only makes us stronger.

While our beliefs are different, we are both praying it seems for justice and sanity to again reign.

@NiveusLepus Agreed.

May you have a wonderful weekend surrounded by people that truly care about you. ♥️

@danielbsmith I wish you very much the same my friend.

Coso is one of those places for me.
