For reasons completely unknown, I’m buoyed by the recent reports of justice. France is of particular joy to me.

It’s not just America that is waking up. The world is self-correcting.

They say they give the big loads to the big horses.

@MidnightRider

Today I do.

Inexplicably I’m not despondent today.

@LnzyHou @MidnightRider The dawn always comes

There is so much that is bleak right now, but hope shines like stars in the sky. We have all these people, scared yes, concerned definitely, but we all care, we're all focused, and we are all together.

That, to me, is reason for joy in the night.

@NiveusLepus @LnzyHou
Given we are living finite lives, the peaks and troughs of the wave the politicians exploit and foist upon all of us can mean some people miss that dawn. The GOP and Christians never seem to learn. You can only plunge and compact a cannon so much before you explode another Woodstock, just a matter of time before all of these folks face the title wave of rejection but I'll probably be gone. At least I saw it as a cub.

@MidnightRider @LnzyHou Something that has helped me cope is the pendulum theory. My Dad raised me with it.

Society swings between extremes of conservative and liberal, with each swing, things move a little further forward, and then some of that distance is given back, but there is always some progress remaining.

We seem to be on a back swing, and as a minority person (LBTQIA+) it's terrifying, but I also have hope it is temporary, and in the allies that stand with me.

@MidnightRider @LnzyHou

Growth is infinite, but it is not a straight or ever ascending line. There will always be moments of fatigue, moments of retrograde thinking taking prominence, but each of us on the vanguard of history carry the spark forward for it to be ignited again.

No matter how dark the night, it is never hopeless. We have seen this, in big and small ways throughout history.

@NiveusLepus @LnzyHou I don't think it's ever been "darker". People didn't fire at each other on the highway for a horn toot.

@MidnightRider @NiveusLepus

I think they did. But we didn’t know about it.

My 94 yr old mother continues to say “There is nothing new on this earth. We’re just seeing it more clearly”.

@LnzyHou @NiveusLepus That was Ecclesiastes in the bible: "there is nothing new under the sun". I completely, agree. What is new? The ratio of hate-based ignorance to reasonable humans equations has tipped more than the Earth's axis. We will always have assholes, but must we give them the microphone?

@NiveusLepus @LnzyHou I agree with this but all of us die and depending on when that happens in relation to the swing, some people die in a less free country. That makes me angry but there's nothing I can do about it. I'm confident I'll die in a less free country than I grew up in. 100%

@MidnightRider @NiveusLepus @LnzyHou
Agreed.
You know who I’ve felt sorry for? All those early Resistance folks in interacted with that never lived to see Trump lose in 2020.
So yes, perishing during the backwards swing is horrifying.

@Anouk @MidnightRider @NiveusLepus @LnzyHou Not a day goes by that I don't think of what my late wife Nancy would have thought of everything that has transpired since she left this world in April of 2020. Here we are the day after TFG was sworn in. Two steps forward, two steps back it seems to me.

@altucker @MidnightRider @NiveusLepus @LnzyHou
I’m so sorry you lost your wonderful Nancy. It drives me a bit crazy that these amazing souls left us before the triumph of 2020. And yes, things are still so bad. Yet also very bad for Trump.
We are all stuck, it seems.

@Anouk @altucker @NiveusLepus @LnzyHou Everything is stuck except our life clocks, they're acceleration IMO.

@Anouk @altucker @MidnightRider @LnzyHou I’m honored that you would share her journey and stand with you as you mourn her loss. May we each learn and be inspired by the example she left for us.

@MidnightRider @LnzyHou 150 years ago you could buy a person in this country.

60 years ago, you could keep someone from voting based on their skin color.

30 years ago, your sex at birth determined if you could marry your partner or not.

It's getting better, very slowly, but it is.

@MidnightRider @LnzyHou You can, it's a global black market industry, but there's whole organs of government dedicated to fighting that, and on the whole, as a society it is seen as abominable.

@MidnightRider @LnzyHou I can pick apart for you everything wrong with our current generation, from climate change, to the war in ukraine, to cobalt mining in the congo, factory farming, or chocolate and banana production writ large.

We could talk about the Uyghur genocide in china, or we could talk about all of the souls trying to fight it, in big and small ways with every choice.

We have come far, we still have far to go.

@NiveusLepus @LnzyHou Yeah they're fighting slavery, pedophilia, drugs, rapists. AND we all know why they concentrate on the drugs the most. Why bust criminals without huge piles of money? Rapist isn't making bank every week under the table, driving a BMW. It's such a sick circus sometimes..

@MidnightRider @LnzyHou It is an absolutley sick and disgusting circus that drags me towards despair, but surrendering to the dark is a victory I can choose not to give them.

As long as I hold onto hope I find empowerment to push back as I can.

@NiveusLepus @LnzyHou I believe in myself, period. (maybe a couple of others but one hand only needed)

@LnzyHou @NiveusLepus Just great! I like you so now the pressure just ratcheted, what's the doomsday clock at? 😂

@NiveusLepus @MidnightRider @LnzyHou
Pendulum theory always made sense to me too. We rarely move forward without the yanking back.
