This is a very good security move, though he might have announced it ahead of time. NTL, SMS is not encrypted and is a terrible 2nd factor option. If you have a smartphone use an OTP app. If you don't have a smartphone, email is encrypted at least from server to server and typically end-to-end with modern clients. Just use one of those and save yourself an 'easy' compromise. If you have any account using SMS, change it to another method - today.

@NihilVidere Not only "might have" but "was required to have" by the FTC consent decree. He can't simply run around tossing his binkie out of the pram.

Ironically, I bet none of the remaining wonderdudes there remember when Twitter *was* SMS...
