Tomorrow is 9/11. I wrote this about that day:
Steel From Above
The rain came hard, out of a sunlit sky.
The flock as they sat on the ground;
just a-buzzing asking why.
And though there seemed no sense.
And it took ‘em by surprise.
But as all things turned out
it made them open their eyes.
And the steel that fell.
It is now in their hearts.
And there is now a reason to go on.
and play their parts.
And the steel that fell from above
is now in their hearts.
Most were working & fooling around.
When we were taught that time has no bounds
It was a day of work.
That became a life of pain.
The schools were in.
And they had to all run away.
We all wound up listening
to the steel that fell.
Which is now etched in our hearts.
Gotta dust off the dirt and mess
and pound it from the start.
And the steel that fell from above
is now in our heart.
But now it’s time to go.
I feel the steel coming down.
So, I downed my cup of joe
and turned my ass around.
And the steel that fell from above
is now in my heart
