Tomorrow is 9/11. I wrote this about that day:
Steel From Above
The rain came hard, out of a sunlit sky.
The flock as they sat on the ground;
just a-buzzing asking why.
And though there seemed no sense.
And it took ‘em by surprise.
But as all things turned out
it made them open their eyes.
And the steel that fell.
It is now in their hearts.
And there is now a reason to go on.
and play their parts.
And the steel that fell from above
is now in their hearts.
Went walking round the town, to try and gauge the crowd.
The signs and the posts and the eyes
it seemed to tell it all.
The deed became the art
and the art looked up and down
The faces they all started to say
“Hey, thanks for coming down.”
.
But now it’s time to go.
I feel the steel coming down.
So, I downed my cup of joe
and turned my ass around.
And the steel that fell from above
is now in my heart
