@Martelvonc welcome! Also a fiber artist (hobbiest). I voted yesterday in a rural area with many GQP-only uncontested races. I voted for the 💙, left the rest blank, voted for the Worker’s Rights Amendment to the Illinois Constitution, and voted to recall all the judges (retired attorney who believes we need new blood in the area judiciary).

@catzmeow yes. Demographics aren’t always accurate at the individual level. I am an older, retired rural white woman. I am liberal af, as are my friends. We defy the demographic stereotypes as we go door-to-door canvassing and trying in our own small way to save democracy.

That said, if older voters as a whole don’t wake up and stop watching FOX, they won’t like the consequences. There is a cost to putting racism ahead of democracy or even self-interest.

@Call_Me_Peppermint_Petty indeed. I wised up, ultimately. I spent very little time on the BS since the last election, so locking down my account and deleting the app was painless.

@Catelli it will writhe and squirm for awhile. But it can spew its hate to the hateful and I won’t even know because I deleted the bird app so that I would not be tempted to go back for a peek. I pay it no more heed than I would Truth Social.

@Call_Me_Peppermint_Petty once, I thought that what was said on Twitter actually mattered. I even signed up to help with tweet storms, to heighten idea visibility. But then I started looking at my data and realized that most of my tweets were seen by few people. And I was preaching to the choir or arguing with bots or idiots. I am pretty sure that I never convinced a single non-voter to vote, never altered one politician’s stance, affected one corporate policy, or changed one person’s mind.
