But, I cant watch the hockey I want to without it. With LazyMan shutting down, and NHL.tv gargling balls on blackouts, I'm not sure what to do. Is $1200+/ year really worth it?

I hear you. We live out in the boonies. The only way to get traditional TV is with a big tall antenna tower or a satellite dish.
We have satellite TV. We only recently got “enhanced” DSL to replace our satellite Internet. So our Internet is now like yours probably was 15 years ago. 😸
Sometimes I want to cut the cord. But streaming on our DSL... not very good. And DH watches lots of TV.
