Aging is a major concern for sexuality and gender minorities. There's a lot of places that reject us, or mistreat us. Frustrating to see this OK'd by the courts.
Federal Judge Allows Retirement Community to Reject Lesbian Couple
That is so distressing. Where are elderly LGBTQ people to go? 😡
I know a few people who want to open LGBTQ-focused retirement communities, but that would never be enough for everyone.
@tyghebright 2 of my closest friends are lesbians. They are getting older and one is having some mobility challenges. It never even dawned on me that a retirement community might ban them, should they decide to move into one. I try to be aware, but sometimes my privilege shows. No one should have to contend with hate.
I know they have had to deal with hate their whole lives, and that's so wrong because they are they nicest people I know.
We still have so far to go as a society. 😕
