Sneaky Midwest Tornado Risk
A level 1 out of 5 marginal risk of severe weather has been drawn for northern Illinois, southern Wisconsin, and the Chicago metro area. There’s a low risk of a storm forming, but if it does, it could become a tornadic supercell. Meteorologist Matthew Cappucci has an update.
Unfortunately, #California has one more band of precipitation that could give Los Angeles and San Diego another 0.25-0.75 inches of rain this evening.
Any given place sees about 6 hours of rainfall, with snow in the mountains. The Sierra could see another 3-9 inches.

The National Hurricane Center will begin issuing an experimental Tropical Cyclone Forecast Cone Graphic on our around August 15, 2024, that includes inland tropical storm and hurricane watches and warnings for the continental U.S.
