Yeah, lots of those colors are attractive. But it would break my heart to blacken the bottom of one.

The ceramic doesn't change color. Unless you put it over an open camp fire or in a coal bed to make cobble, but I wouldn't use a ceramic one for that.

I'm not the only one in my house. I might be careful with it, but someone would be sure to burn the fuck out of some sugar, and let it boil over the side for good measure.
The only stains on mine are on the inside, from purple potatoes, The outside is still good, no stains, no scratches, and my husband is chaos and uses it weekly.
