@jjGravitas In a nova, the explosion does not destroy the star, and it may continue to accrete matter and undergo further explosions. In contrast, a supernova destroys the star completely, leaving behind either a neutron star or a black hole. Finally, nova and supernova also differ in their brightness and duration.
