To think our home is gonna end up in a scrap yard because of a mistake that could be corrected monetarily but refused is wild..... im really struggling to absorb this

We have the idea of Media/Public Shaming of these people and if it's not considered a DOX I will give out the company info who bought the taxes of the home and is refusing to make right with monies vs. principal of matter.

Surely someone can chime in on that.

I dont consider it a dox as the company can be found publicly.

@MrGoat
I guarantee your girlfriend has been doxxed to all the credit bureaus. The tax buyer has no right to privacy that they don’t extend to her.

@MrGoat I think this is a good time for name and shame.

@MrGoat Country Aire Mobile Home Park?

And it is the landlord of that park that is trying to have you thrown out and your home destroyed? Is that Mr. Li?

I've missed parts of this story.

I don't think you're going to get a lot of coverage here alone. Can folks spread the word to other fora?

So far, I'm finding disconnected phone numbers - they seem to go through listing companies that obfuscate their contact info. Classy.

I'm wondering if there's local tax offices or officials we can call.

@MrGoat Anyone from Illinois who has any insight on laws regarding who has the responsibility of reporting and paying taxes on mobile home lots? I see:

"According to Illinois mobile home park laws, the park owner must give tenants information, in writing, about:

The exact amount of rent charged for the mobile home or lot during the last 5 years, including information regarding fees imposed over and above the base rent, late payments, and applicable taxes"

And a bunch of other stuff.

@MrGoat Have you met with the other residents about this? The law says they have to allow a place to do that without interference.

illinoislegalaid.org/legal-inf

Have you contacted IL legal aid about this? You sound like exactly who they're meant to help.

@AskTheDevil They say they won't take the case they sent a letter and said it's not in their interest.

@MrGoat Not in their interest. Nice, since that's not whose interest they're supposed to be acting in. >:(

Funny, he has the same surname as my crappy landlord, although it's a super-common name, like Smith, or Ngyuen. It would be lovely if their name was Snorkotz or something easy to find.

@MrGoat The next thing I'd look at is any attorneys that take cases like this on spec. If there's someone involved who can be made liable, there should be an attorney. It's finding one in time.

@AskTheDevil I can probably get the number to the park office >.> That lady is a trip.

Yes that is the guy who bought the taxes and then title through auction.

@MrGoat I wish I were young and healthy and clear-headed for this.

@AskTheDevil Heh - I wish it wasn't happening.....

Gonna go get coffee at the station and do brakes on both our cars. Hers at 1mm! yikes.

@AlphaCentauri @MrGoat That happens sometimes in rural areas and mobile home parks. Anywhere something can fall through the cracks and there's not enough people to make a stink.

@AskTheDevil @MrGoat
It really does look undeliverable, though. Roads in that area are in the form "E 1200 North Rd" "E 600 North Rd" "E 670 North Rd" etc.

"North Rd" by itself could be any of them.

@AlphaCentauri Wondering if that had anything to do with them not receiving proper notification, or if that could be something helpful in their defense. It feels like it might be an interesting aside, but I'm not sure how it would matter.

@AskTheDevil
I think Goat mentioned he owns a different trailer park than where Goat lives. But it really would be interesting to find out what address tax bills were sent to.
