I was just asked to blow up balloons for this event. Absolutely not.
I’ve never been more grateful for my latex allergy.
(Also per policy, latex balloons aren’t allowed in the hospital which I think this nurse should be aware of. But here we are.)
It’s not that I am pooh-poohing this thing. It’s that I’m exercising my right to not be a part of it… and I would rather not use my epi-pen for it.
I continue to wear a #mask for myriad reasons (my kid’s asthma, people are gross, the cancer patients I work with, my coffee breath is preferable to the other aromas floating around the hospital and other places, my personal satisfaction to be able to mouth profanities, the air of mystery and intrigue that comes with my coworkers never having seen my full face, et al.)
But my favorite reason is that I want others who continue to #maskup, for their own reasons, to know they’re not alone.
The chaplain is coming today to perform a marriage ceremony for one of our dying patients.
Word on the unit is: the patient is now non compos mentis barreling toward needing a 1:1 patient companion. (There was a marriage license finagled some days ago.)
I want (less than) zero part in this. Not even decorations or a slice of cake.
Also it will be the patient’s 5th marriage.
Woof.
@MotherDucker @AskTheDevil My dentist does root canals, nightguards, implants, crowns all in-house. Excellent work. All the pain relief I need.
He crowned one of my teeth, but I developed issues. He said it needs a root canal. Come to find it has fractures running down into the roots. Super fine. X-rays didn't catch that. He had to pull it. Dude felt TERRIBLE. I got an implant but didn't have to pay for another crown or even the partial RC or pulling.
So, good ones still exist. Hard to find.
@mims @MotherDucker They will be praying for me to finally pass away.
I have all sorts of work I'd like to see our congresspeople and other elected officials get to.
I'm quite ready for us all to fire the ones who up until now have been more worried about big campaign support from the wealthy and industry than in fighting the far right or getting people healthcare, equal rights, or saving the planet.
The Republicans are evil, they're effective, they're using power for evil.
We need good.
we should demand to change it to PART of REGULAR healthcare ALONG WITH VISION CARE
as soon as we are past the election, clean house in SCOTUS and get rid of the filibuster..
This next congress is going to have it's hands collectively full. As will Joe.
I think most of it is certainly straight up fraud. / jmo
For starters, maybe scratching at my teeth with hardened steel picks might possibly not be good for them! What kind of racket is this?
I had a wisdom tooth that needed out, and the dentist wanted to wait until I'd had all my teeth cleaned. 3 out of 4 cleanings in, it abscessed and had to be pulled anyway - by an oral surgeon!
What the fuck does a dentist even do any more?
The one dentist who even cleaned my teeth _themselves_ accidentally injected my facial nerve and almost maimed me.
/vent
Do dentists do anything any more, besides making their staff clean your teeth, and referring you to more specialized practitioners?
I have a cavity. I want it filled. I do not want multiple sessions of teeth cleaning. To begin with, I'm pretty sure that's how I got the fucking cavity.
Fuck's sake.
I keep having dentists clean my teeth until there's no coverage left, then having to wait a year for coverage, then having them say they want to clean my teeth first.
FFUUUCK!
It's that simple. Pick a torch, America.
