On a scale of “almost exactly the same” to “don’t waste your money”: how much does #SunButter taste like #PeanutButter?
@sarcasmsign I probably would too. And I like sunflower seeds. But I couldn’t even get on board with almond butter. Just not the same.
@MotherDucker Eh it fills a need more than tricks anybody. It's a considerably thinner consistency
@finkled this. This is the answer I NEEDED.
Kiddo has a field trip for which we must pack a lunch in which everything must be disposable (cringe—we’re planet boxers.) And the choice is pack your own or have a sunbutter and jam brown bag lunch from the school. My child would never trust another sandwich again if I tried to spring a pretender on her.
@MotherDucker It definitely does not taste like PB; it 100% tastes like sunflower seeds but it's still good.
@SmirkingRaven I do want to try it eventually but I need to go somewhere with samples. I can’t commit to an $8 jar of something that may or may not fly around here. 😅
@MotherDucker I get that. One of my kids loves it with honey drizzled on top.
@MotherDucker If you are expecting peanut butter, sun butter tastes like moderate disappointment. If you're eating on its own terms, it's okay.
I prefer cashew or almond butter, but I know those are a no go for tree nut allergies (also they can be pricey).
@danialexis @MotherDucker Eating something on it's own terms sounds like Hannibal Lecter having drawn up an agreement with the dearly departed. ☹️
Sorry for interrupting.
@danialexis moderate disappointment sounds unpalatable for a picky 6yo. 😅
@MotherDucker If she's clear it is not peanut butter, she might be fine. It is sufficiently bland for most young palates.
But if she's expecting peanut butter, I'd expect rejection.
@MotherDucker I've had it before and it's not bad at all, but I still would choose peanut butter any day.
