Where are all my fellow chronic pain warriors? Be seen and heard. 💛
I was born with cervical and thoracic Spina Bifida. I will give you the least scientific, but shockingly effective description of said condition: Maybe God just had a little too much to drink and played Jenga with my C&T spine.
I have had 3 neck surgeries, absolutely cannot ride rollercoasters or off-road vehicles. "Rubbernecking" or double-taking can give me totaled car accident level pain. #chronicpain
When I was a kiddo, the doctors who planned my first spinal fusion didn't think I was going to survive the procedure. It was still pretty new for a kid my age and with my spinal landmarks. They didn't give me a good prognosis without surgical intervention. So I was a Make-A-Wish kid. (Wished for a brother, settled for a VIP family trip to Disney World. ... One Disney trip and a Neil Diamond concert later, I got both wishes granted.)
@MotherDucker I have chronic depression and pain, which causes the depression. Can’t seem too get away from it, and it just seems to get worse the longer I live. I am glad I have a crazy sense of humor lol
@MotherDucker you are an amazingly strong human!! ♥️
@MoonFish ❤️
@MotherDucker 👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼 Me and my partner @AScreamingOpossum both have sb as well. Mine is lumbar. His is cervical and lumbar.
@MotherDucker hi from a fellow chronic pain warrior ~ I have psoriatic arthritis, taking one day at a time, juggling my spoons #chronicpainwarrior
@Willowriverbloom very nice to meet you. 🦾 You are super strong (but you already knew that.) You're going to have to explain about the spoon juggling (I mean, if you want to!) I have never heard that before.
@MotherDucker 🙂 spoon theory ~ we have a certain number of spoons ( energy, things we can manage) and we need to weigh up how many "spoons" we can spend on any one thing before pain, burnout etc set in and we run out of spoons https://me-pedia.org/wiki/Spoon_theory#:~:text=spoon%20theory%20An%20analogy%20which,Learn%20more%3A%20butyoudontlooksick.com sorry if I'm explaining something you've heard of 🙂
@Willowriverbloom I've heard this presented in various ways! Just never as the spoon theory. Thanks for teaching me something new today. ☺️
@MotherDucker I'm sorry to hear of your chronic pain. and IKWYM about autocorrect. My fingers are so often autoincorrect at typing! #sigh
The way in which my cervical spine curves forces my right upper trap to be constantly working overtime to keep my head on my shoulders. I LOVE when randos I've never met ask me if I slept badly, tweaked my neck, or give me suggestions on how to relieve the visible tension. 😳
