How can it be that there is no market or demand for recycled glass? Especially around here which has a big glassblowing community and all that Chihuly stuff? This makes no sense.
Glass meant for recycling in Tacoma is temporarily going to landfill. Why the change?

There used to be a business, in Humboldt County California, which used recycled glass to make beautiful drink ware, serving ware, and vases. I had one place setting (very expensive) and had hoped to eventually get a set for 4, but after many decades, they went out of business in 2019. Very very sad - such a delightful way to recycle glass into everyday objects of art. Fire and Light was their name, examples are easy to find if googled.

We get that here, too. I was told it is due to costs to transport and cost to melt. If someone can't make an easy profit they won't bother with it.
