I am an election official.
I'm the granddaughter of two Registrar of Voters.
Election officials are your friends and neighbors; we struggle to keep deer out of our gardens, we coach your children's teams, volunteer at the senior center, grouse about tax rates, and sit across the aisle from you at Church.
Election officials take their responsibilities very seriously.
If someone tells you masses of people are voting illegally, they are lying.

If someone tells you loads of election officials are rigging elections, they are lying.
Consider the source -- does this person have the expertise to make such a statement? Where did the information come from?
Too often, these are scare tactics meant to frighten you into action.

The actions you should take? Go to your state elections Web site and check your voter registration for correct information -- it's much easier to fix before Election Day. If you need help, got to your local public library.
Do your own research -- read the candidate platforms, listen to the interviews with candidates.
Then make a plan to vote -- early, absentee, or day of the election -- to fulfill your civic duty.
I look forward to seeing you at the polls.

Save this post to remind you.
