Ugh another new bill in Oklahoma to force transgender people up to age 26 to medically detransition 😞

First it was the kids now they are telling adults that they can't make decisions for themselves.

This doesn't even include other states like Kentucky & Kansas that have bills filed to detransition up to 18 and 21 year olds

sigh 😞

Why is so hard to accept people for who they are and be nice, I just don't understand why being hurtful and hateful is all of sudden ok!

@MarvelousMadi13

This is right up there with conversion camps and Indigenous schools. 😑

@Agatha it's sad. All we want to do is just be ourselves but that is apparently too much to ask. You'd think society would have learned from the world's past history and not try and rewrite it.

@MarvelousMadi13 I just don't understand conservatives and their need to make everyone agree with them. How does a person transitioning affect their lives? Why does a man choosing to go through with this kind of surgery make their lives any different?

Why can't they live and let live?

@Iskios I can't speak for all trans people but all I want to do is try and blend in and not be noticed and live my life the way I deserve, but they want the old traditional ways that died years ago

@MarvelousMadi13

I still don't understand how governments, that are supposed to be a democracy, can ban medical procedures for an adult. Hell, I still can't wrap my head around that there was a time when POC couldn't marry a non-POC or women couldn't vote. 🀬

@see_the_sus I struggle with this too. Gender affirmation has been proven to save lives and they are taking it away. Yet they won't remove guns, they won't "force" people to stop drinking or smoking!

@MarvelousMadi13 It totally amazes me that there are states that are clueless to the fact that pursuit of happiness is a guaranteed constitutional right. Or maybe they do know that and just don't give a flying fuck.

@Wolfman the politicians pushing these bills don't care! Well about anyone other than themselves

@MarvelousMadi13

This is so wrong. I wish we could be celebratory with people who express their authenticity rather than minding their business, and, you know, violating their civil rights.

@ATXJane that is something I always hoped for, but sadly that hope is fading 😞

@MarvelousMadi13
Well, how about we start where we can - how about we celebrate with each other?

We’re different women but we’re both seeking our authentic self expression (and acceptance) in the world.

I welcome Self-expression!🌸

@ATXJane totally agree πŸ˜€ I'm all for celebrations!!!

@MarvelousMadi13
This is making me wonder how that might be done. Do you have any ideas?
So far all I've got is to start small with some action that acknowledges something about myself that is authentic to me, but which I might ordinarily hold back. And then celebrate!
(Complicated childhood history, but that's for another time.)

@ATXJane I think honestly sometimes it just comes down to the small things that make us happy. I know I have been ignoring the small good things and focusing on the larger bad things. I think taking a step back and share with people. I'm gonna start trying to poat more positive things that are happening and try to celebrate with he people who choose to follow me

@MarvelousMadi13

Yes, I appreciate what you’re saying. I’m drawn to the idea of making everything I do a simple expression of my authenticity.

And you’re reminding me it would be a good thing to visit with friends.

And in my own way, I’m celebrating with you (& myself) right now. I think when the heart opens & expression is honest, what could be more celebratory, after all?

I’m glad we’re talking about this!

@MarvelousMadi13 Aside from the human rights violations involved, isn't detransitioning medically dangerous to some degree?

I'm no Dr. or trans scholar, it just seems like it has the potential to cause problems.

@mach gender affirming care is life saving. Many trans people suffer from sever gender dysphoria and at times it's too much for them to handle. This will cause a lot of trauma and pain to anyone it affects, and potentially death from suicide 😞

@MarvelousMadi13 Yes, but what I see from those that would require detransitioning is a complete disregard for the mental and emotional trauma they would cause.
They are a vehemently anti-woke lot who might recognize physical harm, though, so maybe shining a light on that could sway some voters away.

@mach suicide amongst trans kids and teens is already very high and states are not slowing down sadly. I hope someday they can learn to care about the mental sides to people.

@MarvelousMadi13 I do not know what would keep you in Oklahoma. I would move to NYC if you have nothing keeping you in Oklahoma. Well NYC is very expensive these days. I have friends in Toronto too. I would be looking for someplace you could be happy.

@BFBucky1 luckily I'm in Massachusetts, which is great towards the LGBTQ+ community. Sadly for some of these people it's hard to pick up and move. Between jobs, kids, money for selling and buying a house.

@MarvelousMadi13 Like the war on , hmm, means people. Gotta fill those private . The quota, doncha know?

@MarvelousMadi13 I will never understand how anyone can possibly feel good at the suffering of others. It's just cruelty for cruelty's sake.

@AngryCanadianGamer for some eff'd up reason they justify it thinking they are right
