Morning Brew's Opening...

Good morning. Bummed it’s getting dark out so early? Spare a thought for the people living in Utqiagvik, Alaska, 330 miles north of the Arctic Circle.

Yesterday at 1:27pm local time, the sun set…and it won’t rise again until January 22.

For 64 days, residents will be living in what’s known as polar night.

But remember: Over the course of the entire year, Utqiagvik will experience the same amount of daylight as Miami, or any other place on Earth, because we all experience the same number of hours of sunlight over 365 days, the Washington Post reported.

Come May 11, 2025, in Utqiagvik, the sun will rise and it won’t set until Aug. 19.
