While a 37-year Veteran of US Military Service, I will not be attending Veterans Day observances on Monday.

I find it terribly upsetting that I would be unable to look upon or speak with WWII veterans (some are still here) and relate that their comrades in arms essentially died for nothing.

@Madken65 they didn't die for nothing. there are many of us, past & present, who were grateful that they kept the forces of darkness at bay.

it's on us to carry on their work now. but they didn't die or serve in vain. it was never a waste. not for the survivors of the camps, not for those who were liberated & wept for joy when they saw our tanks roll in.

it was never for nothing.

:poppy:
I agree with @singlemaltgirl,
If you are not there tomorrow, how will you let those seniors know that their efforts are not forgotten @Madken65. Are there veterans breakfasts /supper clubs or other social events to connect with them?

How will you become the embodiment of the Kohima Epitaph?
When you go home, tell them of us and say, for your tomorrow, we gave our today"
