ON this date in 1993 - South Africa's President F.W. de Klerk and African National Congress President Nelson Mandela were named winners of the Nobel Peace Prize for their efforts to end the apartheid system in South Africa.
Bun Man and Mr. Purple remember watching the news conference and seeing these two on stage w/ their 'forced smiles'.

Bun Man was so elated he broke into song "The ink is black, the page is white, together we learn to read and write; a child is black, a child is white, the whole world looks upon the sight, a beautiful sight..."
