ON this date in 1932 - Amelia Earhart became the first woman to fly across the U.S. non-stop.

The trip from Los Angeles, CA to Newark, NJ, took about 19 hours.

NY Times reporters Bun Man and Mr. Purple were there in Newark to greet Amelia, who was resplendent in her leather and while silk scarf.

Bun asked what she was going to do for an encore and Amelia said "Circumnavigate the globe..."

The Boyz thought she might want to re-think that one as perhaps the thin air had done somethin' to her brain, but she persisted.
