ON this date in 1775 - The American colonies were proclaimed to be in a state of open rebellion by England's King George III.
This was preceded by the Stamp Act in 1774 and the Quartering Act that same year as well as Patrick Henry's inflammatory 'Give me Liberty or Give me Death' speech.
