ON this date in 1829 - The "Siamese twins," Chang and Eng Bunker, arrived in Boston, MA and the Western world to be exhibited.

They were 18 years old and joined at the waist.

There, they met Bun Man and Mr. Purple who persuaded them to remain in the US.

The twins married the Yates sisters and settled in NC, making them the most Northern US example of marrying first cousins.

This had previously been confined to Arkansas and Mississippi, but now the in-breeding would soon spread.

So, it wasn't the Missouri Compromise which broke the Union, it was Southern promiscuity.
