Morning Brew's Opening today
Good morning. And so it begins: Cicadas are emerging in South Carolina. In Newberry County, their mating calls have gotten so noisy that residents are calling the sheriff’s office wondering why they’re hearing a roar or sirens.
Remember, cicadas are loud—like, as loud as a jet engine. And this year, the US is getting a double whammy, with Brood XIX and Brood XIII emerging together for the first time since 1803.

I checked the map yesterday to see if we would have them here. Apparently it may miss us. I hope so. Double of those creatures is not what I had on my bingo card for the summer.
I think if they showed up here in the summer months, they'd be BBQ Cicadas.
Aren't there Cicada recipes floating around somewhere?
I'm sure I've eaten worse over the course of my Crazy Years...
@Madken65
lol, maybe I have. I'll have to think about it. Mom used to make liver when I was little. That qualifies.
And I ate those god forsaken Lima Beans...that HAS to qualify.
@Madken65
lol, I think there are. The article I read yesterday had a small mention of people or animals eating them. Mmmm, tasty treats. With their red blazing eyes.
