ON this date in 1348 - The first English order of knighthood was founded.

It was the Order of the Garter.

Commoners Bun Man and Mr. Purple, rebuked by Merlin's sword, suddenly now found themselves thrust into prominence.

Seems their garter collection brought them fame, fortune and a Knighthood.

Who would have thought being a wedding crasher of the middle ages would have brought such glory?
