ON this date in 1653 - In England, Oliver Cromwell expelled the Long Parliament for trying to pass the Perpetuation Bill that would have kept Parliament in the hands of only a few members.

Cromwell's aides Bun Man and Mr. Purple were sent to deliver the decree to the Long Parliament.

When questioned about the legitimacy of the expulsion, Bun Man stated,

"Lord Cromwell has the legitimate right to exercise his authorized powers..."

Mr. Purple just now started cracking up; when Bun and I asked why, Mr. P replied "Dudes, don't you get it?

White men in office have authorized powers, Black men in office only have executive actions..."

Suddenly, we got the irony...
