ON this date in 2004 - Mattel announced that "Barbie" and "Ken" were breaking up.
The dolls had met on the set of their first television commercial together in 1961.
While there were initial reports that Bun Man had had a part in the breakup, Bun Man vehemently denied any involvement.

Apparently, the final straw occurred when Barbie bought some cute new Mattel pajamas for Ken.
When Ken and Barbie got ready for bed one night, Barbie asked Ken about the pajamas and Ken replied, "Ken Sleeps Naked..."
