ON this date in 1783 - Britain declared a formal cessation of hostilities with its former colonies, the United States of America.
US Ambassadors Bun Man and Mr. Purple were on hand when the Treaty of Paris was signed.
While hostilities on the battlefield ended in 1781, it took two more years for the Brits to get around to realizing the war was lost.

Bun Man, while crossing over the room to accept the parchment, said "One small step for man, one giant leap for the USA..."
