ON this date in 1956 - Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Johnny Cash held a recording session at Sun Studios in Memphis.

The sessions were later named the "Million Dollar Quartet" and released.

Sun Records founders, Bun Man and Mr. Purple reportedly fooled the Four into thinking the name was for their value to Sun; but really the Boyz' joke was the name was for the alimony payments each of the four were making.
