ON this date in 1964 - The governor of Indiana declared that the song "Louie Louie" by the Kingsmen was pornographic.

He requested that the state's radio stations not play the song.

Bun Man and Mr. Purple's seminal band Super Heads In Time (the logo on the bass drum spelled S.H.I.T.) had just learned the Kingsmen's hit and were playing it on the local club circuit.
