ON this date in 1547 Accession of Edward VI (age 9) as King of England (1547-1553).

Court jesters Bun Man and Mr. Purple were shocked; one day they had a playmate, and the next day he was the freakin' King.

as he was now able to steer Edward VI away from 'The Rough Wooing' which England had raged against Scotland since 1543.

Mr. Purple said at the time "I always had a different definition for rough wooing..."

Bun Man replied "You would, P, you would..."

Edward did strengthen Protestant reforms in England, but these were largely overturned when Mary I, came to the throne in 1553. Mary became known as 'Bloody Mary'...
