US Senators Bun Man and Mr. Purple had made impassioned speeches against the expansion of the federal govt, but once again, Republicans saw this as an opportunity to control and Dems saw an opportunity to throw money to a problem rather than a solution.

The Dept's rapid expansion almost certainly doomed its success.
