ON this date in 1922 - Rebecca L. Felton became the first female to hold office of U.S. Senator.
She was appointed by Governor Thomas W. Hardwick of Georgia to fill a vacancy.
Bun Man just said, "It took this country over 100 years to put a woman in the Senate, it will take another 100 years to get sense & sensibility in that chamber."

Hi My name is Paula Felton Britt Rozov. Rebecca is well known in the American Felton clan. Not sure if it would interest you to know that Sir Thomas Felton was one of the original Black Knights of the Garter(Prince William is the 1000th). So the Felton crest hangs on its side(the designation of the first 69 knights)in St George’s chapel at Windsor Castle just above HenryVIII’s tomb.
