Cutting out caffeine and shifting to ridiculously clean eating have done wonders for resetting my daily routine.
I'm still adjusting to how it affects my end of day, but I got up naturally an hour before my alarm today, so I'm knocking out some admin tasks before the run and feeling great.
Bodies are so weird, but it's nice to figure out the lifestyle that works best for one's own.
Morning, all you strange and wonderful vehicles of change! Hope you're feeling nurtured by what fuels you, too.
I know, know, "cutting out caffeine" feels like a phrase meant to scramble the brain's sensors on its own. 😅 And then the rest of it?? What jibberish is that?!
@MLClark Would you please hand in your #CaffeineClub membership card? 🤣😜💕
😭 But I love living vicariously through all your cuppas! Just let me huff the fumes, Stuey! Give me a whiff, if nothing else!
@MLClark Alright then! Lifetime honorary membership is yours 🤣
@MLClark excellent! As we age, we need to be pay a lot more attention to what our bods are telling us (speaking for myself, but I'm sure it's true).
I switched to about 95% vegan diet, cut out sugar as much as possible, and have been more physically active. I've lost just over 20 pounds since January without even really trying... still some work to do though.
But in less than a year, I bet I've extended my expected life span by more than that.
Now I just need to work on the alcohol. 😉
Oh, amazing work! Well done, Chuck. And I bet that, on top of the weight and activity levels, mood has probably been much better too, eh?
I'm running mainly off rice and beans these days myself, in one meal a day that allows me to optimize time in a calorie burning state. Cutting refined sugars was a huge turning point in my life, but caffeine was long overdue (only started the stuff in grad school!).
Best of luck with the next "vice" on the list, eh? Alcohol is a tricky one!
@MLClark my cutting caffeine is on day 5. The headaches have subsided but I am tired all day and trouble staying asleep all night. Work in progress and glad you are doing well.
I was the GRUMPIEST BEASTIE while in withdrawal, so I hear you. Most forums caution against going cold turkey because the transition is so hard, but I am a stubborn git when I'm fed up with something not working, and I suspect that you might be, too. :)
Are you upping your hydration and salts (sodium, magnesium)? I found that helped tremendously. But every body is different, so big hugs to you as you figure out what's right for yours!
@MLClark I know this is English but sense not making.🤣
