I've also never asked what your preferred build is for 40K! What's your character of choice, when you get to dabble via more than online model acquisition?

(And I totally get the price point on the hobby - that was also a huge impediment to my engagement with 40K in Canada. So many people using it as a disposable income sink, and boasting of how much they'd invested in their set-ups! Supremely glad that you've found a joyful way through the experience that doesn't break the bank for you.)

well, as much as I really like the setting, unfortunately I cannot afford the table top game.
If I could, I would certainly pick an Adeptus Mechanicus army, as well as Imperial Guard / Astra Militarum.
I really like however to dive into the lore, the books are actually quite good, absolutely recommend "The Infinite and the Divine" by Robert Rath, without spiling much, its like the Bone Wars in 40K but not as you might expect it lol, FWIW it has a 4.5/5 on good reads
