(The band is supported by a local rum company, which hosts lots of these events to boost sales - lest anyone think this is perfectly seasonal altruism at play.)

It is a pure celebration of life.
In the last place I lived, in Canada, people were routinely too shy/self-censoring/judgmental-of-others to let go and sing and dance in public.
