Happy Friday, all.

We've been on tenterhooks for a while. Not just in the last few days, with sabre-rattling from Iran, Syria, Lebanon, India...

But before that, too. Remember the last year and a half of Russian invasion of Ukraine? The constant fears of further breakouts? Nuclear war? China?

Before then, pandemic.
And always, climate change.

We are living through a *lot*.
This is not an ideal "normal".
But it's ours.

So give yourself grace.
No one's going to be at their best right now. 🕊️

@MLClark some of the humans turned the Earth into a giant escape room in which numerous barriers are put up, including turning us against each other, before we can solve each major problem.

@CanisPundit

:( And at least with an Escape Room, you know there's a solution somewhere, because someone actively set it up.

This is just painful chaos.

Even if some find comfort (and I don't fault them for it, in such hard times) in believing that there's someone looking on who'll make everything right in time... we just have to keep trying to make a best-fit solution with what we've got on hand.

Thank you for doing what you can, where you can.

@MLClark and I do and you too!

The “change comes from within” concept is ever more relevant as the first step is maintaining one’s self in order to be resourceful & responsive. You phrased it as grace.

@MLClark

The other day I was chatting with someone who is a couple of decades older than I am. He basically said of wars and pandemics, propaganda, mis- and disinformation, that there was "nothing new under the sun", and "it has ever been thus". I respectfully noted that there were two new elements in the mix that made it all infinitely more complicated: the internet (speed, volume) and global warming.

We need grace in abundance,.🕊️

@LiseL

I read a piece in Vox last week that countered the idea that this is "same old, same old".

It's not that human behaviour has changed, but there are quantifiably more of us, undergoing more stressors than before.

The puddle shrinking in the sun is always convinced that it will survive whatever happens to it, because it's survived everything before... right until it's gone.

We won't all disappear... but it's going to get uglier. We need to be ferociously kind.

@MLClark

This is excellent. The image of the row of dominoes falling over will stay with me.

@MLClark thank you. Hoping you’re finding the space to give yourself some grace as well - that you’re offering the wisdom, I imagine you are 😊
