Today's review of for is a little harder on the show than my last.

It had to be, because although the SNW team had a huge challenge when setting out to tackle Trek canon around justice and genetic modification, they took some narrative shortcuts that unfortunately undermined the biggest humanist issues this trial of an episode broached.

But! We can learn from setback, too. (If we didn't, we wouldn't be human, would we?) 🖖

@MLClark the whole Una story hit a big button for me, here in Guate during one of the Juntas, the army killed a whole lot of people, which resulted in so many displaced and others fleeing the country, hiding, and she joined something far larger than she is, perhaps by bending laws, but that's what we all did back then, survive, even if it was unlawful. here's hoping we all learn from the past. and can offer our kids a better future.

Absolutely. Our world is filled with people considered "illegal" for surviving. Thanks for sharing the part that hits deepest for you.

There's a complicating factor in Una's story, because genetic modification has a history that informs many other forms of persecution. Aligning this group with forms of victimization that came about *because of* eugenicist thinking is a huge narrative challenge.

Either way, real persecution continues off screen. We hope our stories win hearts & minds.
