I shared this first on the bird, where my lit world sometimes lives in a bubble, but:

On my evening walk I learned a street friend is no longer begging. :) He finally got approved for a Venezuelan work ID here & is now able to seek real contracts to support his young kids. I will miss our nightly chats, but for the best possible reason.

I also shut off my fridge the other day. Not out of necessity. Just living with less. The work writers do is... very privileged, in the grand scheme of things.

(I feel safe sharing the second part here, mind you, because I know many of you do, too.

There is shared frustration at the State of the World here, obviously. But I also daily see sincere striving to do the best one can where one can: to heal from personal wounds; to help where one can.

Neither perfection nor performance is the "game" here. It's always so lovely to live among fellow, messily striving humans instead.

Good night, CoSo. Thank you for being your fully human selves here--always.)

Thank you for sharing this beautiful sentiment. Sleep deeply, rise reinvigorated

@MLClark Isn't it interesting how living with less, even at peak internet popularity a few years back, was still framed around things sparking joy? Permission to eliminate the mental clutter of excess rather than the question of why we default to that excess in the first place?

I understand your decision to post here rather than the bird.

@MLClark

Should point out that I'm writing this on a tablet I definitely don't need but bought as a convenience. For me personally, removing physical and mental clutter would be a meaningful first step toward living more deliberately... so no judgment to anyone else striving to do so.
