There are days when I almost think I understand the world.

And then there are days when I just want to play A Serious Man on repeat for all eternity.

What's your go-to filmic reminder of the fragility of knowledge behind humanity's persistent ache for fuller understanding?

(Ten bucks said TBL comes first to mind for the majority. 😉)

@MLClark

I can tolerate most Coen Bros. comedies, but TBL is highly overrated (imho). A Serious Man is utterly brilliant.

Stalker is one of my go-tos, as is Nostalghia. Tarkovsky has shaped my worldview.

The Seventh Seal.

Ashes of Time Redux.

I remember being intellectually impressed by La Jetee. (Read the other comments on your post, was like, "Oh yeah!")

A Man Condemned.

Oh, what a rich and wonderful list. Tarkovsky's films carry whole cosmos unto themselves. Thank you for sharing these.
