Instead I wrote about the ERA's latest death in a way that returns us to the whole history of its intersectionality with labour rights, and more.
I... think I'm getting a little fed up with the way that the serious socioeconomic issues facing the US (and world) are being hijacked by trans panic, queer panic, and general hostility toward women?

@MLClark I so agree and at my age it’s extremely fatiguing.
@TheresaVermont I opened the article with the image of resurrecting the very much dead and gone Mott and Stanton from the 19th century, so I think this ERA saga should make *everyone* feel old.
The battle to extend the ratification period on the damned thing is older than me. 🙃 Maybe it's time to consider a new 1776?

My father opposed the ERA, and when I questioned him about it as a child, he told me I didn't deserve to make as much money as men because I would become pregnant one day.
I love my dad. But that's a conversation that I will never forget. It was hurtful.
Now, I support my family and myself, and it's been a whole battle, still is.

So, yes.
Trans women are not the threat to me politicians are telling me they are! Never have been, never will be.
Politicians are working the antitrans rhetoric like a bunch of two dollar strippers begging for tips.
@janallmac The difference being that, when it comes to people stripping for a living, that's honest labour and deserves to be paid far better.
What these politicians are doing is... in a league of debasement unto itself, not to be uttered in the same breath as the hard gig of sex work.

Whatever it is, it's debasing, desperate, and dishonest.

I'm sorry you didn't have an ally in your corner you could trust for all things. (I'm sorry so many of us did not.)
