Puppy mills are the worst kind of breeder. Years ago I did dog rescue most of the dogs placed with us were from puppy mills. Today I saw an advert her for someone that has puppies. A quick reverse search and I see about 12 different breeds offered on various sites. So this is ether a puppy mill or an outright scammer.
If you want a dog please consider a shelter dog they make just as great a companion.
@singlemaltgirl @Lucky188 It's a completely different situation in my state and I'm convinced it's a real racket. It's incredibly expensive and involves multiple interviews, sometimes even home visits first. It's insanity.
@SaltyVeruca that's so odd. do they have so few animals to find homes for that they can be this selective? @Lucky188
@singlemaltgirl @Lucky188 They're always getting animals from southern states, hurricanes, etc. It defies explanation.
@Lucky188 I volunteered for years at our local county animal shelter. It was run by their sheriffβs office and the deputies spent a fair amount of time and effort busting up backyard breeders and hoarders who were treating dogs horrendously. You can find awesome dogs - including purebreds - at shelters. Adopt, donβt shop.
@cassandra17lina Those were the most common types (breeders/hoarders) and yes many had papers. They almost always needed rehab before they could 'be a dog' - most often afraid of being out of a crate or cage and OK weeks to get them do realize there's a whole forest to pee on out there.
@Lucky188
I just adopted a sweet little girl from our local shelter. We are in love.ππππΆ
I couldn't agree with you more! I volunteered at a no kill rescue. They would bring in the dogs from overcrowded shelters that were dumped from puppy mills in Georgia, Kentucky, etc. If by chance a dog wasn't able to get adopted they then arranged for them to go to a sanctuary. We just adopted our senior pup from that rescue almost 3 months ago. We absolutely love her to pieces!

@Lucky188 honestly, i don't understand why peeps don't all get shelter pets. you can pick and choose for temperament, age, colour, at least a dominant breed (even if they're not 'pure' and what does purity matter for a family pet?!?!?!). they're cheaper, it's more ethical, etc.
all of our cats were from a shelter but 1 (she was the next door neighbour unspayed cat's spawn gifted to us after we lost one of our cats suddenly) great luck w/ shelter cats.
