I just saw my second roach in the house tonight (we get the house sprayed regularly ๐ณ). The first one I squished to death, and the second one was in the tub so I poured 1/2 a bottle of bleach on it before I turned on the faucet to wash it down the drain (it was still alive ๐ณ). The drain is closed and thereโs bleach and water in the tub now.
I may never sleep again.
Calls will be made in a few hours.
I've lived in the south for so long I know that no amount of spraying prevents the occasional American roach aka tree roach aka palmetto bug from coming in, but they usually end up legs up if inside too long.
It's the small roaches (German, etc) that'd make me lose my shit if I saw them inside.
@Agatha The first roach I saw tonight was smaller and lighter in color, so I think it was born in the house. ๐ณ๐ณ๐ณ๐ณ๐ณ๐ณ The second one had obviously crawled in from the outside through the pipes. The roaches got really bad here in Charlotte last year, and clearly thatโs still going on. Iโm on one of those pay monthly programs with a pest control company.
Every single roach makes me lose my shit. I hate those things so much.
But, I know what youโre talking about with those small ones.
Has it been dry where you are? They'll come inside looking for moisture. I've had them fly in (unintentionally, I think) through the doorway.
@Agatha No, itโs been raining for months. Weโre all so sick of all the rain and mud. ๐ซฃ
Oof. Maybe that's driving them in or it's causing a baby boom. ๐คฎ
@Agatha Iโm leaning toward a baby boom. ๐ซฃ๐ณ๐ณ๐ณ
Last summer I had to walk the dogs at midnight, sometimes 2am, while my husband was in hospital. Apparently that's "giant roaches running around the road" time. I mean, they'd SWARM. ๐คฎ
@Agatha OMG ๐ณ๐ณ๐ณ๐ณ I donโt know how you did that. Iโve seen those swarms, though. Iโll always have PTSD from those swarms. In general, bugs and I do not get along. Letโs just say, Iโve been stung by a bumble bee, among other things. I have a bunch of stories about encounters with roaches over the years too.
I did it because by the time I saw them they were between me and my home. I had little choice.
But anyone looking out their window would have seen me dancing and trying to not get crawled on. ๐ ๐ ๐
@Agatha Oh my god, I would have just become homeless. ๐ณ๐ณ๐ณ๐ณ You are so brave!!
@LindaGoodliffe scotchgard furniture protector spray kills them in 20 seconds flat. Essentially, it suffocates them so they canโt scuttle away too quickly
@vozoto Thank you!!!!
@LindaGoodliffe anytime i see creepy crawlies, i feel them all around for days. i feel you so hard on this. may you got some sleep. ๐๐พ
@singlemaltgirl Thank you. โค๏ธ Yes, every itch and tingle is a roach crawling me, according to my freaked out brain. Thatโs still happening. But, pest control will be here on Thursday to spray again.
@LindaGoodliffe Diatomaceous earth is also good!
