@BosmangBeratna The Blue Wizards, who went into the East and were never heard from again.
@BosmangBeratna Tolkien didn't write much about them, of course. I saw a video a few months back which posited that they went into the East so as to lessen Sauron's hold over the Men there. But, again, there's very little in Tolkien's letters to indicate one way or the other.
@sfleetucker @BosmangBeratna Now THAT would make a great series. As there's so little known, the creators would have a blank slate. Much better than upending canonical lore as "Rings of Power" is doing.
@LiberalLibrarian @BosmangBeratna
The idea that the Istari didn't know their mission is BS. Hell Gandalf didn't arrive in Middle Earth before the 3rd age, and he did so by ship.
Mithril was just a metal, it had no "mystical" properties other than being light and strong. You didn't need it as a plot device to tell the story of the Rings of Power.
<sigh>
@LiberalLibrarian Didn't they start the Hippie Movement? π€£@BosmangBeratna

Saurman the Wise, Gandalf the Grey Wanderer, Radagast the Brown, protector of nature, and the blue wizards that went far to the east, to seek out their destiny.
The 5 Valar of Valinor.
@NiveusLepus @LiberalLibrarian @BosmangBeratna Maiar, not Valar... ;)
@sfleetucker @LiberalLibrarian @BosmangBeratna Oh that's right! I got my wires crossed.
@LiberalLibrarian @BosmangBeratna Ah, the mysterious Ithryn Luin...
