Remember, there were a lot of Nazi collaborators in France. And the French memory hold that. So, not that much of a shock that the National Rally won the first round of the elections at long last.

@singlemaltgirl Le Pen has been rebranding the party as a mainstream conservative party for a few years. I mean, it's all bullshit, but she's convinced enough of the electorate.
@LiberalLibrarian in 🇨🇦 harper's cons have been re-branding as the 'big tent conservative party'. = we'll cater to all the whack jobs out there to get their votes incl. nazis, white supremacists, white wing religious zealots and the like resulting in a party of such openly hostile bigotry, racism, and intolerance as to be almost unrecognizable as the previous cons that were just right of centre focused on economic policy.
