@ChristopherNoyesRoberts If Trump is barred from running in states nearing 270, well...
@RationalLeft @ChristopherNoyesRoberts
Pretty ballsy if they try to overturn the 14th Amendment.
@LiberalLibrarian @RationalLeft @ChristopherNoyesRoberts
I think that's the end of the Nation if this SCOTUS actually attempts to rule a constitutional amendment, unconstitutional.
Of course on the Shadow Docket no less.
@SentinelOfTruth @LiberalLibrarian @ChristopherNoyesRoberts They won't say the amendment is void. They'll say the provision was limited to the Civil War context and doesn't apply to TFG.
@RationalLeft @LiberalLibrarian @ChristopherNoyesRoberts Same difference. That scenario effectively neuters the amendments intention and creates a nation destroying precedent.
Slippery slope? Yes, but in this case the fact in practice. It's beyond unilateral power of one branch of government.
@SentinelOfTruth @LiberalLibrarian @ChristopherNoyesRoberts But this court does that all the time.
Although I don't expect them to do what many Rs now demand and void birthright citizenship. The amendment's text is too clear on that. I can't see 5 votes to overturn it. (I can certainly see 2, maybe 3. But not 5.)
@LiberalLibrarian @ChristopherNoyesRoberts They'll rule it doesn't apply to him on this. I guarantee it.
@LiberalLibrarian @ChristopherNoyesRoberts SCOTUS will block it.
