Can someone explain to me why chess is divided between men and women's competitions? It's not a physical sport.
Women are smarter, @LiberalLibrarian
@LiberalLibrarian women are smarter than men.
@LiberalLibrarian Why, no, come to think of it. I can't.
@LiberalLibrarian History of excluding women; overcoming societal/cultural disadvantages is an actual real barrier to excellence in a lot of cases.
@LiberalLibrarian male fragility
@LiberalLibrarian Because when lady brain beats man brain, it makes penis fall off
@danialexis Can't have grandmasters beaten by small-brained females, of course...
@danialexis Especially if the body containing the lady brain also has one. 😉
@stueytheround @LiberalLibrarian Note I didn't specify whose penis would fall off ;)
HEEY LL😊 HISTORICAL Separation Of The Genders/Sexes That Is All😊
@LiberalLibrarian the Philippine Chess Association organizes competition by teams of 6. two must be rated players. one must be female. one must be a senior, and 2 must be homegrown (self-taught) players
This is fascinating. I love it!
@CajunBlueAZ1 @LiberalLibrarian to add - in the Philippines, chess is truly considered a sport. results of chess tournaments are regularly reported in the sports news on tv and in newspapers. in department stores, chess sets are always in the sports section, not with other games in toys
Our kids played competitively for 3 years. There was no separation.
The USCF does not separate ratings based on gender. I just looked my kids up to make sure this is still the case. 🤷🏻♀️
So no, I have nothing here.
@LiberalLibrarian Fear? Male fear?
