There's a trend in libraries to call the people who go to them "customers".
Bullshit.
We're not selling them a product. We're not monetizing them. They are our patrons. And for me, that's how I will refer to them.
@LiberalLibrarian I was a paying patron until most of the local libraries by me went fine free. I was notorious for returning stuff late. 😂
I figured my fines were my contribution to the libraries.

@AverageCitizen Yep! My library, LA County, went fine-free last year. It costs more to collect fines than the fines are worth. (If you lose a book, then you'll get charged. But other than that? We just want the materials back.)
