I'm very tired of the Merrick Garland hate. The idea that he's going to let Trump off the hook is not only offensive, it's silly. When you go for a former president—which has NEVER BEEN DONE IN THE HIS COUNTRY'S HISTORY—you'd better make sure all I's are dotted and T's crossed. Impugning the motives of a man who put a needle in Timothy McVeigh is offensive. Just my two cents. YMMV.
@LiberalLibrarian I don't hate Garland, but like many, I'm chomping at the bit to get things rolling, especially when we're not getting a lot of information. I am very much aware of the stakes and the need for accuracy and iron-clad facts, but patience is sometimes at a premium and long in coming. Nobody wants any of these folks to walk on a technicalty or procedural error; we want it to be gotten right and done correctly; we just wish it didn't take so long.
@XaoslordErie That's the thing, though: In a working DOJ, we're not SUPPOSED to get information until the trial starts, or indictments are handed down. That this happened under Trump doesn't make it normal.
@LiberalLibrarian I understand this, having worked in IT and INFOSEC, but the average American really doesn't, unfortunately. Me, I'm just some irascible old bastich now.
@XaoslordErie The perniciousness of the 24/7 news cycle.
@XaoslordErie Human beings aren't meant to absorb this much information in so short a time.
@LiberalLibrarian I think I have to agree. It's a lot to digest rationally.
